Nurses are also enrolling in the Healthcare Informatics programs along with physicians, information technology managers, and health information management professionals. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the need for health information technologists to grow by 2018.

This program is directed by Dr. Patricia Abbott, one of the pioneers of nursing informatics and a former professor of mine. The tuition is $12,500 but federal funding is available. The application deadline is February 15, 2012 in order to be considered for federal tuition support.
